Today we had to research about Andrew Goodwin. He came up with the theory that all music videos will have three different ways of presenting themselves. These were narrative, performance and concept.
Narrative:
Narrative is when the music video tells a story. There is not normally any shots of the band singing or playing instruments. An example of this would be David Guetta's Titanium.
Performance:
Performance is where the music video is always focused on the band or artist. It shows them singing to the camera and nothing else. An example of this would be One Directions What Makes You Beautiful.
Concept:
A concept video is where there is little performance but also there is no narrative to the music video. An example video of this type of music video would be Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer.
