My Face Final

Digi Pack Peer Feedback

We sent out a survey monkey questionnaire to find out what people liked about our digi pack and what people thought that we could improve. We had many mixed results towards our digi pack. Below are a few responses that we had from the class.

1. It's quite nice and the text goes with the genre however, I feel a bit trippy looking at it, there's colour then there's one random part of the digi pack which is black and white.

2. This is the least professional of all the digi packs. I think there is no clear theme and all of the slides feel random.

3. Good variety of different pictures, however the front cover could include bright colours so it would fit in with the rest of the digi pack.

4. Love the entire top row of this, the composition, imagery and colour scheme are fab, but not sure how the last two panels fit in? The CD is pretty cool but why the long white background? The guitars look like they've been found on Google, maybe go up to music and get your own pictures of instruments.

5. I'm really sorry but I dislike the colours and the font. Looks a little 'childish' however my opinion might change when I see the video and have a better understanding of the singer. Would like to have seen the artists face clearer, but then I guess this makes its quite secretive. However I do really like the effort done into the editing.

6. This is a good attempt but it needs work. There is a lot of colour which means it captures the eye but the images are bad quality and don't look very professional. Higher quality images and some more professional shots would improve the final product.

7. Looks like it was done quickly/not quite finished. Some is colourful and some is black and white, doesn't keep continuity.

8. Nice idea to do lots of different colours, the font is appropriate and works well. Improvements: it looks really unprofessional and quite childish, make it so it works with an older audience a bit more.

9. The James Couleur digi pack is very plain. It doesn't look very professional because of all the colours that are used are a bit overloaded. If the layout was all based on one or two different colours it could look more professional. The fonts that are used work well with the images that have been taken. The images all look professional.

10. James Couleuer.s digi pack is sticking with the theme "couleur" rench for colour because there is a lot of colour. I think that the cd looks good, but the colours everywhere make it look really childish and unprofessional. I think maybe you should just have each page a different colour rather than having so many different colours on every page.

We have taken all of this feedback on board and have made some changes to our digi pack. The main points that we need to look at are making it less childish and more professional and also use higher quality images to make it digi pack look more professional and more of a realistic look. Below is the new digi pack that we have made based upon the feedback that we have received.

Digi Pack First Full Draft

Our first draft for our digipak is now finished. You can see it above. James Braddy worked on this as he had experience with Adobe Photoshop and me and James Clifford drew out the original plan and came up with a few ideas.

First Draft for Back of the Digi Pack

Here is our first idea for our digipak. We thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of James facing a wall with the track list on his back.

Website Stage 3 - Changes made from Feedback

The first thing that we noticed from our feedback is that not many people liked the background of the website. So we decided to change the background to a spectrum of colours which played on the role of Couleur which is French for colour. People also wanted easier links to the social media sites so we added the social buttons along the top under the navigation bar.

A lot of people picked up on that some pages were unfinished and that the tour poster was missing. We amended these problems quickly.

The last couple of negative feedback's said that we were missing the teaser trailer for our music video on the front page. We already knew this as it was still under construction at the time. People also said that the gallery page was a bit bare and maybe we should arrange the photos to have ones that stand out at the top.

Our Website Evaluations

After every member of the class evaluated the different websites each group received their feedback for their own website. We received mixed reviews for our website. James Braddy made a Prezi on some of our feedback which is shown below.

What went well:

People really liked the way that the Facebook link poped up at the beginning when opening the

Website Evaluations

1) Grace Starr
Grace Starr's Website is one of the best websites from the class. There is a good use of colours and i like the way the home page is not too crowded with lots of information. There is a consistent house style with the use of fonts and colours. I really like how they have added some news articles and a teaser trailer. Navigation is easy to use and clearly labelled. To make the site better I think that they could have links to social media sites on the home screen with icons.

2) Nicholas Alexander
Nicholas Alexander's website has clear navigation buttons and the colour scheme works well with the background and text. I like the way they have changed the background on the interview to show Radio 1 which makes it look professional. I like the social links on the home page and also I like the way in which the tour dates are displayed around different pictures. To improve the website I think I would reduce the size of the heading to show slightly more on the home page.

3) Encoded
I like the simplistic look of the website with the original black and white text and background. I also really like the countdown clock in the top right corner. I like the clear bold font because it is easy to read. To improve their site I would like a few more pictures on some of the pages because just looking at text on a page does look quite dull.

4) Cosmo
The site is still very incomplete with a few pages of the site with nothing but a title on them. The home page is also very bare with only a twitter feed and a Facebook feed. I do like the background picture and the tour dates picture. The picture is colourful and draws my attention. I also like the honeycomb effect on the gallery page. They have uploaded a teaser trailer which shows off some of the shots they are going to use.

5) Hybrid Beauty
I really like the background and the way the site is layed out. I also like how you have a popular tweet on the side of the page and your links to other pages and social sites are clearly shown. The text is clear and matches the colour scheme and they have put the teaser trailer on display on the home page. To improve there is a few pages which need completing but otherwise I think it is a very good website.

6) Alleyways
The Alleyway's website is really good. I like how they have split up the background picture and how they have used different pictures on each page. There is not many improvement points other then i do not really like the big white pictures at the top of some of the pages for pictures and videos.

7) Alex Echo
When you load up the home page I like how there is a small gallery of pictures that move automatically. There is a clear colour scheme throughout the website and I like how there pictures at the top of each page. For improvements the merchandise page needs to be updated with prices and a cart.

James Couleur ft. Niall Pollinger Call Me Maybe Lip Snyc

James Couleur shows us his lip syncing ability with one of his close friends Niall.

Commitment to the Video

We had decided that there was one type of shot that we wanted which was under water. James got into his wetsuit and and braved the icy cold water!

Day 4 of filming Sea shots

Day 4 of filming. We went to Goldhanger to record our shots we needed for the sea and also some shots on the beach. Below are various shots behind the scenes at the shoot. James Braddy braved the cold November sea to get the underwater shots filmed with a Go Pro.

Pete Fraser

On Friday the 7th of November Pete Fraser came into our school to give us some tips on how to improve our videos and give us some extra ideas for our blogs and productions. Below is a picture my teacher took of Pete talking to us.

Inspired Videos

Here are a few videos that have inspired us and given us ideas on how we want to make our music video. We found Yellow and Summer very inspirational to us.

Coldplay - Yellow

Coldplay's Yellow has inspired us with ideas for our music video as we see Chris Martin walking towards the camera looking sorry for himself. We chose to use this video as one of our inspirations because we feel that the lyrics to our song represent a sad moment in the persons life and we would like to create the same effect on the viewer that is shown here.

Calvin Harris - Summer

We have used this video because we see Calvin walking down a dusty track which is what we would like to recreate for our music video.

Day 3 of Filming Green Screen

Day 3 on the set for filming the music video for My Face. Here we are filming the chorus for My Face.

Day 2 of Filming Paint Party

For our music video we had an idea to have a paint party at the end. This is to show the colorful side of life and how people can enjoy their life after a dark patch. Below are a few pictures from filming.

Day 1 on Set for the Practice Shoot

Day 1 of filming for James Couleur's new single My Face. Here are a few behind the scenes pictures for the production.
